Guru

Guru means gu, darkness, ru, that which dispels: the one who carries you from darkness into light. The outer guru gives instruction and pushes; the inner guru pulls the mind back to its source and absorbs it there. Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara: the guru is none other than the one God within you. When you stand lost in the middle of the ocean, the guru is the canoe; you climb in, you rise, you float, and at last you swim.
