Jai Shankar
जय शंकर
/d͡ʒʌj ʃʌŋ.kʌr/
Jai Shankar: victory to Shankar, the salutation that opens Satsang and honors Adi Shankaracharya, the master who restored Advaita Vedanta and stands at the head of this lineage. Brahma satyam, jagat mithya, jivo brahmaiva naparah: Brahman alone is real, the world is illusion, the soul is none other than Brahman; that is what he distilled into a single line. To say Jai Shankar is to take the name of the Lord first, before any word of your own.
